Even after 400 years , "Merchant of Venice" by Shakespeare is still controversial. The characters in the play dubbed as protagonist and the overall narrative as whole have been seen to show anti-sematic and racist mentality. What's your thoughts on this ?

This is an open and casual discussion/debate.

Well I do feel that the so called protagonist had racist and discriminatory mentality.

1. Portia was racist towards Prince of Morocco , comparing him to a beast.

2. Other character's comments & behavior against Shylock and Jewism was obviously discriminatory.
